Maslaha

Muslim communities face inequalities in health, which in the case of mental health is also compounded by stigma as well as wider public attitudes towards Muslims and Islam. Support tools are particularly relevant when there are no words for e.g. 'depression' in many languages such as Arabic, Somali, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali and Sylheti. Produced in partnership with Somali, Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities, the short films in Somali, Bengali/Sylheti, and Urdu combine medical, cultural and faith advice in order to speak a 'language' that makes more sense to patients.
