Bereavement, Loss & Change: Lecture One
This programme is part of a series of lectures presented by Dr. Colin Murray Parkes, an expert in the field of bereavement. This lecture focuses on how many bereavements occur in the UK on average, and the percentage that might seek help. He also explores the psychosomatic disorders and the way that a bereavement can affect them. The lecture is divided into four parts, each ending with highlighted main teaching points.
Bereavement counsellors. Nursing staff and students. Medical students and other staff and students with a professional interest. Particular interest for postgraduate students.
Here is a subject of great interest to many professional disciplines within health, social services and beyond. Bereavement affects us all of course, but what is a normal reaction? When does it become pathological and what can be done about it?
Dr. Colin Murray Parkes has spent a professional lifetime working in this area, undertaking research and teaching on the subject to a wide range of audiences. This project is presented as a series of illustrated lectures. They are a pleasure to watch and easy to follow, even for the newcomer.
