You are buying access to watch the programme online in your 'My Account' area. Audience Wide appeal. Health care students and patients of any phobia. School children find the production accessible. Students on psychology and psychotherapy courses and psychiatric trainees. Content For Rita, her bird phobia had led to severe avoidance behaviour, affecting many aspects of her life and relationships. As a result she felt very depressed. This programme follows her successful treatment using behavioural psycholtherapy. She is taught relaxation techniques and then gradually exposed to birds. Initially we see that even looking at pictures produces anxiety but by the end of treatment she is able to hold a number of birds and tells us that it is the happiest day of her life. The programme is very strong on human interest and has received excellent feedback. Psychiatry can sometimes get a negative press but examples such as this show the speciality in a different light. Style Follows the treatment of a real patient, intercut with professional comment. Use Can also be used in a live lecture setting or private study. Running Time 27 minutes
